Squares Squared

Tumblr_l0xrrzy0vg1qzb6alo1_500_large

I'm pretty much seeing in squares these days. A couple of months back while I was still at Uni, my nan gave me a massive bag full of yarn, all different colours and weights. I briefly mentioned blanket squares in this five for friday, and thats what I've been doing with all that yarn. They're quite small squares really so they knit up fairly quickly and I've been experimenting with different stitches - both because it'll make it look a bit more interesting and also I'm in need of practice! I'm almost 30 squares in now - I know how big I want the blanket to be so it's just a case of keep knitting till I've got enough squares!

I really want to take pictures of the stitches I like, but they're not turning out very well at all using my phone. I got the quote back for my camera today and am still in shock. I had no idea it was going to be as expensive as they've quoted me. I'm trying to decide what to do, at the moment the best option seems to be to have it returned and to buy a second hand body as, bizarrely, its cheaper than having it repaired!

The picture at the top of this post doesn't have a lot to do with anything I've talked about really... But it reminds me of winters curled up with a ball of wool and  a movie on my laptop.

Still Alive

I am, I promise.

Having tons of problems with my laptop at the moment, which is totally sadface.
Discovered that as much as I love my phone...blogging with it is totally awkward. And frustrating. And makes me want to throw it at something. So, that isn't happening!

Hoping to get onto a proper keyboard tomorrow, eep!

I miss the blogosphere like, millions.

Quick Update + Photography Stuff

Sorry for the total lack of posting this week - been mega-busy and currently working on a complete blog re-design, which is proving to be somewhat challenging given my complete lack of CSS knowledge. Which has also resulted in my downloading of way too many photoshop brushes and subsequent wasting of many hours playing around with them. So, so glad I have a graphics tablet, I think I'd have worn my laptop trackpad out! If all goes to plan, I'll have the new design completely finished by the end of the weekend, I'm really excited about this - just hope it works! It'll be nice to have the blog looking a little more 'me' and a little less, well, purple and boring.

Taken to wandering around in the woods behind my house with no shoes, my camera and the dog. Found some pretty awesome little places but am also starting to think that the woman who lives opposite us thinks I'm a slightly odd soul.

Completely ignored didn't notice this sign, I hate these signs. This probably has a lot to do with the fact I tend to do the opposite of what I'm told to do, but also it makes me curious. Especially in the middle of a wood when I know full well there's a footpath the other side. Turns out that there's a piece of private woodland about the size of a football field with a public footpath on either side. Strange or what?

This place is gorgeous. Its kind of in a little bit of a clearing so the sunshine comes through the trees but it still has that woodland cool, the waters unbelievably clear and absolutely freezing. I've never seen anyone else there, it adds to the charm - its like my own little river.

Found this field, which made me really really happy. There's something extraordinarily beautiful about the tangled, untouched mess of grass and colour that is a field of wildflowers.

Also found this place, the windows are smashed in and the gates seen better days. I can't work out what it is/used to be. I was wondering if it was a wildlife hut, but around here they tend to be made of wood, not whitewashed brick. Its literally in the middle of the woods, it would make the best place to go to get away from the world for a while.

I love where I live. I miss the sea but I love the country.

Five For Friday

Hello Friday! Once again you've come around far too quickly!

1)The amazing discovery that was the retro camera app. In love. I actually thought my phone camera was pretty bad, but apparently not!

2) Sunshine. It makes me & my feet happy.

3) Getting all creative and stuff with the scrapbook (Which I introduced here if you missed it) and yes,  I keep my stamp pads in rainbow order.

4) The smell and feel of vintage leather, I'm like, in love with this bag right now. Its gorgeous.

5) Taking pictures of absolutely everything. And everything. Its driving everyone pretty nuts but its good to be back in the photography groove.

I know this is blurry, and reflective, but I still kinda like it. Thoughts?

Hope you've all had an amazing week!
